Amateur Freestyle

Same format as the Pro class, open to all skill levels. If you love freestyle and want to compete on a world stage, this is your class.

A longer format that rewards style, creativity and flow. Drones are permitted. Surf riding is considered as part of the judge's category score.

How You're Scored

JUDGING CRITERIA

Each routine is scored across five categories by our expert judging panel. One judge per category.

01
Difficulty
The complexity and risk level of tricks performed. Higher difficulty scores reward technical moves.
02
Variety
The range of different tricks and combinations shown throughout the routine.
03
Execution
Technical precision, control and clean landings. How well each trick is performed.
04
Amplitude
Height, distance and commitment demonstrated on each trick.
05
Overall Impression
Flow, entertainment value, crowd appeal and the overall quality of the performance.
Important

FILMING GUIDELINES

Camera Quality
Use the best camera available to you. Mobile phones are accepted but DSLR or action cameras are recommended.
No Edits
Submit raw footage straight off the camera. No colour grading, no cuts, no music. We compile everything in post.
3 Separate Files
Submit your routine, best trick, and intro as 3 separate video files. Do not combine them.
Filming Window
All footage must be filmed and submitted between 30 August and 14 September 2026. No exceptions.
Intro Clip
Film a short 30-second introduction. Tell us your name, where you're from, your class, and say hello to the judges.
Drones
Drones are permitted for Freeride only. Not permitted for Freestyle classes. Contact us if you need help finding drone support.
